Flexible MAcc Program
The Flexible Master of Accountancy Program is designed with the working professional in mind and allows the student to complete the program by attending core classes entirely offered in the evening. Flexible MAcc Program students can start the program from their current educational attainment and complete Accounting and Business prerequisites as a part of the overall Master of Accountancy program, if necessary. In most cases, students entering the program with a BBA in Accounting (or equivalent) do not need any additional pre-MAcc coursework. Full-time students with an undergraduate accounting degree can complete the 30-credit hour program in as little as 12 months, while part-time students can choose a pace that fits their schedule and time constraints.
Structure, pace, and flexibility for YOU: Each core MAcc course is in-person or virtual and meets one evening per week, except Fridays and weekends from 5:30 to 8:15 p.m. Select courses are offered asynchronously online. In addition, we use a hybrid course modality approach. You can attend classes entirely virtually or in person. You can blend virtual/remote and in-person modalities at your own discretion - keep up regardless of your home location or while you are traveling or working late.
Face-to-face learning: The program features a predominantly face-to-face synchronous instructional method, which greatly enhances your learning experience and increases academic achievement.
Flexible Program Admission
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in any major with a minimum 3.0 GPA (2.8 GPA for Washburn graduates/AACSB-accredited business school graduates) on a 4.0 scale. Additionally, a minimum 2.8 GPA in accounting-specific courses (for applicants with an accounting background) is typically required. Students needing preparatory coursework in business and/or accounting are eligible for full admission while these requirements are completed.
- Submit a completed application to the Washburn MAcc Program. This application also satisfies university admission and is completed online at: washburn.edu/macc The application form will provide for the submission of the unofficial academic transcript and letter of reference.
- Arrange for one letter of reference to be submitted by academicians, employers or other persons who can attest to the applicant’s potential for success in graduate study in accountancy.
- Professional work experience is not a requirement for admission.
- Entrance exams such as the GMAT or GRE are not required for admission.
- Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, so you can start in January, June, or August.
The Washburn MAcc program examines each application on a holistic basis that includes educational background, work history, letter of recommendation and other applicant-specific qualifications that suggest you would be a good MAcc program candidate. This admissions process has allowed Washburn to consistently attract top students with a wide range of backgrounds. Business background students, including non-accounting majors, are encouraged to apply.
